Rubber Washers For Sealing, Damping, And Spacing To Suit All Requirements

Rubber washers are highly versatile and flexible components that are suitable for sealing and damping applications. These spacing devices are also used to cushion fastening components while serving as a reliable material buffer. They protect against moisture, prevent loss of tension and security due to vibration, and provide a range of other benefits.

Their general properties can be enhanced by selecting the right type of rubber. Superior Washer & Gasket Corp. manufactures and stocks a full selection of natural and synthetic rubber washers, including those made from Neoprene, silicone, Buna-N, Santoprene, and EPDM. We can also quote other types according to the details you submit through our RFQ feature.

Our Capabilities

Our comprehensive stamping capabilities and expansive stock of raw materials enable us to fulfill all rubber washer dimensional requirements. Our domestically-made selection far exceeds rubber standard washers.

We produce thin rubber washers for a low profile and flexible fit between parts. They are similar to gaskets and suitable for use as rubber sealing washers in addition to cushioning agents. We provide thick rubber washers and hard rubber washers for more rigid support and added damping capabilities.

Rubber fender washers and other types of large rubber washers are included in our inventory to satisfy many industrial requirements.

We can also offer a variety of food-grade rubber washers made from silicone, which will resist moderate to high levels of heat, chemicals, and meet a broad range of safety criteria.

Our rubber washers are frequently used in plumbing, filtration, heating, cooling, ventilation, and marine systems and settings, as well as in appliances and fixtures that may be subjected to moisture due to the development of condensation or additional factors.

If color or finish is a priority, we provide black, natural, clear rubber washers, and others in all manner of sizes. If your application requires a certain level of hardness in your rubber washer, you can specify that detail, most commonly known as the durometer, in your RFQ.

Answering Your Questions About Rubber Washers

What is the difference between neoprene and silicone washers?

Neoprene and silicone washers are made from two separate elastomers that are both categorized as synthetic rubber. Neoprene washers are used when a general-purpose grade of rubber washer is needed. It is one of the more in-demand types. Silicone washers are used when heat resistance is required, as this material will resist temperatures up to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C). They are also suitable when a washer must meet certain FDA criteria for food and beverage or medical processing specifications.

What is the difference between neoprene and EPDM washers?

EPDM washers are primarily used when fastener assemblies will be outdoors. This material will resist degradation or loss of integrity due to UV rays and various environmental conditions. Neoprene or nitrile washers are better suited to applications where these factors are not a concern.

What is the difference between EPDM and nitrile rubber washers?

Nitrile washers, which are also known under the name Buna N, will perform best in applications that may be subjected to oils, grease, and similar substances. EPDM washers are better suited to settings where resistance to weathering and UV light is a priority.
